The Mountaineer Pantry began in 2015 as the Northwest Ashe Mobile Pantry. Its purpose is to take food to our neighbors in the outlying parts of the county. Transportation is often a challenge for many clients, and the mobile pantry solves this problem. Partnering with the Volunteer Fire Department in Creston and the Phoenix Baptist Church in Lansing, we make monthly distributions at each location. Maintaining our healthy food policy, each box of food contains a balance of nutritional items. During this one-time monthly distribution, we serve between 225-300 families or approximately 1,200 individuals.
